Marguerite
Benjamin Parker was born in Jersey City, New Jersey,
and grew up in Elizabethtown, North Carolina, a small, uneventful
town from which books became her escape. It was in middle
school that she decided to become a writer, starting with poems,
short stories, and plays to entertain her friends.
Before
graduating from East Carolina University with degrees in
Creative Writing and Multicultural Literature, Parker served as
writer and news editor for The East Carolinian and was a
regular contributor to Expressions magazine. Her work has
been featured in Gift Basket Review, the leading trade
magazine for the gifting industry. Parker operated a successful
home-based and online gift basket business before redirecting her
focus to writing.
Currently, Parker is an instructor and academic
advisor at Pitt Community College. She penned A Debt Too Deep during days off,
wee morning hours, and over brief weekend getaways as she
balanced work and an active household. Along with the support
of her family, Parker credits her active membership at Koinonia
Christian Center Church for providing the stability that allows
her to maintain her balance.
Parker believes that one's
true identity and purpose is illuminated only after Salvation and
that personal fulfillment is possible only through the consistent
pursuit of Divine will. Accordingly, contemporary Christian
fiction is her genre of choice. Although she has written poetry and
short stories, her chosen method of expression is the novella. A Debt Too Deep is her first in
publication. A sequel is planned for release
in 2008.
